Some facilities bale cardboard faster than a weekly pickup can keep up. Distribution centers, manufacturing plants, and large retail operations can fill a dock with bales in days. Greene Recycling’s tractor trailer service moves that volume a full truckload at a time, so bales leave your building on a schedule that matches how fast you make them.
There are three ways to run it, and many sites use more than one: full-truckload pickups, drop trailers parked at your dock, and live loading while our driver waits.
When your bales are stacked and ready, a tractor trailer comes to haul the full load. This works well for sites that build up inventory between pickups and want one efficient trip instead of several small ones. Larger loads also tend to mean better value per bale, since every truck that leaves your dock is carrying a full load.
A drop trailer is the most hands-off form of tractor trailer service. We leave an empty trailer at your facility. Your team loads bales into it as they come off the baler, on your own time. When the trailer is full, we swap it for an empty one and haul the loaded trailer away. Bales go straight from the baler into the trailer, so they never pile up on your floor, and your crew never waits on a truck.
Live loading means the driver arrives and waits while your crew loads the bales. It’s the simplest version of our tractor trailer service, and a good fit for sites without space to park a spare trailer, or for facilities that want bales gone the same day they’re loaded. We schedule the arrival so your team knows exactly when to have the forklift ready.
The right setup depends on your volume, your dock space, and your staffing. A plant with a spare door often does best with a drop trailer. A store with a tight dock may prefer live loading. A regional warehouse might combine both. We’ll look at how many bales you produce each week and recommend the tractor trailer service that keeps your floor clear with the fewest trips.
Cardboard has value once it’s baled. For qualifying volumes, Greene Recycling sells your bales into the recycling market and may return part of their value as a rebate. Sites that fill trailers are often a good fit, and tractor trailer service keeps those docks clear with the fewest trips. Learn how it works on our recycling brokerage page.
A trailer program only works if the baler keeps up. If yours is undersized, we sell new and used balers in 48-, 60-, and 72-inch sizes and can set up installation if you need it. For sites with loose cardboard or seasonal overflow, a 20- or 30-yard roll-off or a 40-yard compactor can work alongside your trailers.
Bales that are dry, square, and free of plastic film, foam, and trash stack safely and hold their value. Keep bales off wet ground and away from open dock doors in bad weather. Corrugated cardboard is one of the most recycled packaging materials in the country, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and clean bales make sure yours goes back into new boxes.
